Herman “Wall” Glenn has been a member of the SAL for over 6 years. He gained eligibility through his father, Clifford Glenn, who served in the Army during WWII.  Clifford’s career did not end there, he went on to serve in the Marines and Coast Guard, receiving honorable discharges from both.  Herman is semi-retired, which allows him to be more active with his immediate family as well as his Legion Family.  He is the Commander of Post 8’s Sons of the American Legion, 1st Lieutenant of the Honor Guard, as well as the Director of Post 8’s American Legion Riders Chapter.  Herman also serves as the chairman for the 7th District American Legion Riders.

Cathy “P.I.T.A.” Smithmeyer is a US Navy Veteran and has been a member of the American Legion for over 6 years.  She served in the Navy for 4 years, stationed at Commander Submarine Group Two in Groton, Connecticut.  Cathy serves as District 7’s 2nd Vice Commander, Post 8’s America Legion Adjutant as well as Post 8’s American Legion Riders Chapter Assistant Director.

Don Graves has been a member of Post 8’s Sons of the American Legion for 23 years.  He gained his eligibility through his father, Frederick Graves, who served during WWII.  Don’s father served as a radio operator on a B17 as part of the Army Air Force, and was decorated as a member of the Caterpillar Club after having to bail out of his disabled aircraft.  While his father was a long-standing member of the Clarence Oliver American Legion Post 154 in Elmira Heights NY, Don joined the Sons of the American Legion Post 8 in honor of his father’s memory, and tries to continue to honor his memory serving Post 8 and all of our Veterans.  Don is the 1st Vice Commander of Post 8’s SAL and is the Finance Officer for Post 8’s American Legion Riders.

George Wallace is a US Army Veteran and has been a member of the American Legion for over 10 years.  He is retired from the Army after serving for 33 years from January 1986 – April 2019 and is the recipient of the Legion of Merit.  His deployments include Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Joint Forge, and Operation Enduring Freedom.  George has served in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bosnia, and Germany.  He is the 1st Vice Commander of Post 8 as well as the Road Captain for Chapter 8’s ALR.  George is a past Post Service Officer and Past Director of Post 8’s American Legion Riders Chapter.  He is a “Quad-Member” with membership in the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary and the American Legion Riders.

Gino, a Navy Veteran, has been a member of the American Legion for over 2 years.  He completed Boot Camp in Orlando and was assigned to the Naval Base in Rota Spain.  Gino’s next assignment was on the USS Independence CV62, an Aircraft Carrier based out of Norfolk, VA.  Gino serves as Post 8’s Third Vice Commander as well as the Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms for Post 8’s American Legion Riders.
